Medication Monitoring:
Ongoing support to adjust dosages and ensure optimal results, with regular check-ins to discuss progress.
No Insurance Required:
Our medication management services are available through direct payment, giving you more control over your treatment without the complexities of insurance. We offer transparent, up-front pricing with no hidden fees.
Medication Managment
At Therapy Friends, we believe in a holistic approach to mental health care. Alongside our therapy and wellness services, we now offer medication management.
This service is designed to help clients safely and effectively manage their mental health through prescribed medications, supporting overall well-being.
How It Works:
Initial Consultation
Meet with our Nurse Practitioner to discuss your mental health concerns and explore whether medication is right for you.
If you're already seeing a therapist at Therapy Friends, your prescriber will have access to your treatment history, ensuring a seamless experience. You won't have to repeat your whole life story—our team collaborates closely so that the prescriber can build on the insights you've already shared with your therapist.
Prescription &
Follow-Up:
If medication is recommended, you'll receive a prescription along with a clear plan for follow-up visits. Our prescriber will work closely with you to monitor your response and adjust the treatment as needed.
Since we believe in integrated care, your prescriber will collaborate with your therapist to ensure a coordinated and aligned approach to your mental health. This close partnership allows for real-time adjustments to both your medication and therapy, ensuring that your treatment evolves with your progress.
Ongoing Support:
You’ll have access to continuous support as you navigate your medication journey, ensuring that any adjustments are made in line with your needs and progress.
If you are working with one of our therapists and also receiving medication management, you will benefit from seamless, integrated support. This means that as your therapy progresses, any necessary adjustments to your medication can be made in real time, based on your evolving needs and goals.
Pricing & Payment
We operate on a direct payment model, which means we do not accept insurance. This allows us to focus on providing personalized, high-quality care without the restrictions of insurance networks. Our pricing is straightforward:
Initial Consultation (60 Minutes): $300
Follow-Up Appointments (30 Minutes): $175
You can pay using credit cards, debit cards, or FSA/HSA, making it easy and convenient to access the care you need.
Good Faith Estimate
A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) refers to an outline of expected costs of therapy services for clients, particularly those who are uninsured or paying out-of-pocket. This requirement stems from the No Surprises Act (effective January 2022), aimed at protecting consumers from unexpected medical bills.
Who qualifies as a self-pay patient?
A provider’s duty to provide notice and a GFE applies to self-pay patients, i.e., an individual who (1) does not have benefits for an item or service under a group health plan, group or individual health insurance coverage offered by a health insurance issuer, federal healthcare program, or a health benefits plan; or (2) chooses not to use his or her coverage benefit for the item or service.
In many ways, this regulation protects patients from discovering, after they receive care, that they owe a massive medical bill for un-covered services.
The frequency of appointments patients have with their prescribers for mental health treatment can vary significantly based on several factors, including the type of condition being treated, the individual's response to medication, and the overall treatment plan. However, there are some general estimates and trends:
Initial Phase: During the initial phase of treatment, patients might meet with their prescriber more frequently. For example, in the first three months of treatment, studies have shown that patients may have around 9 to 12 appointments, which can include evaluations, medication adjustments, and monitoring responses to treatment (BioMed Central).
Maintenance Phase: After the initial treatment period, the frequency of appointments typically decreases. Many patients transition to less frequent visits, which might range from every few months to once or twice a year, depending on stability and ongoing medication needs.
Lifetime Estimate: If we consider an average lifetime of mental health treatment that may span several decades, it’s reasonable to estimate that a patient could have anywhere from 20 to 50 appointments with their prescriber throughout their life, assuming a combination of initial and maintenance phases of care (BioMed Central). This number could be higher for individuals with chronic conditions requiring more regular monitoring and adjustments.
Overall, it's important for patients to maintain open communication with their providers to determine the appropriate frequency of visits based on their unique circumstances. For more detailed insights, you can refer to the studies and resources that discuss the dynamics of mental health treatment and prescriber appointments.
