FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
We've made the decision not to accept insurance for a variety of reasons, chief among them being the desire to maintain complete confidentiality and autonomy in my therapeutic practice.
While insurance can sometimes impose limitations on the types of treatment offered or the duration of sessions, we prioritize providing personalized and effective care tailored to each individual's needs.
However, we understand the financial considerations that come with seeking therapy, which is why we offer clients the option of receiving a superbill. This document contains all the necessary information for clients to seek reimbursement from their insurance providers, ensuring that they can still access the support they need while honoring my commitment to delivering the highest quality of care without compromise.
Additionally, ask us about our sliding scale if there are financial limitations that are blocking you from therapy!
WHAT IS A SLIDING SCALE?
Instead of using the same flat, hourly rates for all clients, a sliding scale fee system allows costs to be adjusted based on what a client can afford. Under this structure, the cost of therapy is based on a client’s income.
Please request more information if you need an adjusted rate.
HOW LONG DOES THERAPY TAKE TO WORK?
Research suggests that the duration of therapy can vary widely depending on several factors, including the individual's specific needs, the nature of their concerns, and the therapeutic approach utilized.
While some individuals may experience significant improvement in a relatively short period, such as a few weeks or months, others may require longer-term therapy to achieve their goals.
Studies indicate that the average length of therapy ranges from around 6 to 20 sessions, with longer-term therapy often associated with deeper, more sustained change.
However, it's essential to recognize that the effectiveness of therapy is not solely determined by the number of sessions but also by the quality of the therapeutic relationship, the client's commitment to the process, and the compatibility of the chosen therapeutic approach with their needs. Ultimately, therapy is a highly individualized journey!
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS MY SESSION OR NEED TO CANCEL?
We do have a 24-hour cancellation policy!
Should you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly request that you provide at least 24 hours' notice. If an appointment is canceled within this timeframe or if you do not show up for your scheduled session, the card on file will be charged for the full rate of the session.
You can text, email, call & leave a voicemail, or use the client portal to cancel or reschedule your session.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THERAPY & COUNSELING?
Psychotherapy and counseling are both treatments for mental health problems that involve talking with a trained mental health professional. You talk about thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to understand them better and work in a collaborative way to promote mental health. The term psychotherapy is often used interchangeably with counseling, talk therapy, or therapy.
The term "counseling" is often a word that signals the therapists' credentials and training, typically referring to Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors.
